My legal career
began in 1984 in the area of general practice and litigation.
However, I found that my interest and skills drew me towards
Domestic Relations. My own parents divorced when I was a teenager
and it became important to me to help other people through this
often painful and adversarial process. Of special interest to
me is promoting and protecting the interests of the children
whose parents are divorcing. I also serve as a mediator or arbitrator
at the request of the parties, attorneys or judges to help resolve
contentious issues. Often I serve as a guardian ad litem, an
attorney appointed to act in the children's best interests. My
focus is to foster if possible ways to allow the family to be
separated into two distinct households while maintaining stability
and consistency for all involved. The divorce procedure may be
adversarial in nature but the process does not have to be. Negotiating,
mediating or arbitrating an agreement where all involved participate
in the solution lets everyone "win" and provides a
sense of accomplishment for this attorney. Since 2001 I have been a
member of The Collaborative Family Law Council of Wisconsin,
Inc. and have received the training to now be able to offer my
clients the option of a Collaborative Divorce process. To access
